Volcán Barú

Volcán Barú is the highest point in all of Panama. It stands at 3,747 meters above sea level, and is the only place where on a clear day you can see the Pacific and Atlantic oceans at the same time. The land surrounding the mountain features 5 different and diverse ecosystems. This is because of a combination of rainforest highlands as well as the side effects of volcanic eruptions millions of years ago. Volcán Barú is also known for the best coffee in the world. This is because the beans are planted in volcanic soil and harvested at very high altitudes. This makes the coffee very unique and allows it to live up to the title of World’s Best Coffee. The entrance to the national park is actually in Boquete, a neighboring city, and not close to the volcano. Overall, Volcán Barú and its surrounding cities have a very diverse ecosystem, and make truly fascinating landforms.
